The discovery was made by an AMD-sponsored Facebook streamer, Gina Darling. Some of you may remember her days at Machinima under the pseudonym SuperExvillain, but since the site’s closure, she seems to have been flying solo in the world of streaming. Getting back to the point at hand, Darling had made the discovery of AMD’s alleged naming convention in Fornite; during one of her streaming sessions in a new map – it was jointly created by AMD and Fortnite Creative Island modder MAKAMAKES – she discovered the Easter Egg by performing certain tasks to get to the proverbial egg. Once there, she had to enter a particular that, if you haven’t already figured it out, was 6000. Once inputted, Darling was then greeted by a message that says “Something big is coming to the AMD Battle Arena”. Combine that message with the number, and the signs more or less point towards what could probably be a hint at AMD’s Radeon RX 6000 series.
While it is still just an assumption and educated guess, there’s little reason to believe that this isn’t what AMD intended; as it stands, the CPU and GPU maker’s current GPU architecture, Navi, ships out as the Radeon RX 5000 series, and comprises cards with the model numbers RX 5700, RX 5600, and RX5500. By the way, we should point out that the map was designed as part of AMD’s current collaboration custom PC builder, MAINGEAR, for sweepstakes that are currently happening in the US. Obviously, we won’t be able to participate in it, but with AMD’s Big Navi GPU official launch just a stone’s throw away, the timing of all these seems a little too convenient to simply be a coincidence.
