The existence of the premium chipset was first discovered on posted on the German-based tech forum ComputerBase. The forums more or less point out the obvious; the X590 chipset will be a step up from the X570 chipset, which is already considered as AMD’s AM4 platform. In hindsight, what AMD is doing is not so different from what Intel did with its Z390 and the launch of top of the line Core i9-9900K. In essence, its Z370 chipset are still compatible with the current lineup of 9th generation Core CPUs, the major differences between them being the availability of CNVi support and USB 3.1 Gen2 ports. Sadly, the trail of bread crumbs seem to stop there; beyond its discovery, there’s still no concrete detail about the specs of the X590 chipset. However, the forums speculate the possibility of the chipset having more than the average number of PCIe 4.0 lanes that are currently allocated to its X570 brethren. As always, the legitimacy of this news is considerably spotty. Therefore, it would be in everyone’s best interest to take this bit of news with a pinch of salt, at least until AMD officially acknowledges the existence of the X590 chipset.
