This is because for the first time in the Apple Watch history, Apple will also release the LTE variant of Series 5 (and Series 3) into Malaysia. With the cellular capability, users are able to make calls, send messages, and stream Apple Music directly from the watch without the need to rely on their iPhone.
However, the cellular capability is telco dependent. Even though Apple’s support website has yet to list its name, Digi has stated on its official website that it will offer number sharing for Apple Watch Series 5 LTE to Digi Postpaid customers. For now, Digi is the only local telco that has publicly confirmed its support for the cellular feature although we have hear reports that other telcos might be testing it as well.
While the telco has stated that it will be offering Series 5 with LTE capability under its PhoneFreedom 365 program, Digi will only reveal further details regarding it when the pre-order begins at 12:01 AM tonight. Hence, stay tuned as we’ll talk more about Digi and Apple Watch Series 5 LTE tomorrow. (Source: Digi.)
