David Wehner, Chief Financial Officer of Facebook, then revealed that the clear history tool was still under development and will roll out sometime in 2019. The announcement was made during an investment conference recently.

Erin Egan, Chief Privacy Officer of Facebook, also explained how the tool works in a blog post. The clear history tool will enable you to see the websites and apps that send Facebook information when you use them, delete this information from your account, and turn off their ability to store it association with your account going forward. Users will start with a “new slate” and avoid being bombarded by targeted advertising. The tool also alleviates some of the privacy fears that many Facebook users have been plagued with recently. It is unclear however how the tool will operate and how effective it will be at clearing personal information stored with the social media giant. Facebook has yet to officially specify a launch date for the tool but we are only expecting it to be released towards the tail end of 2019.
