The GoldenEye 25 project’s official Twitter account made the announcement earlier via a tweet. It says in the tweet that it has been asked by the film’s IP holder, MGM/Danjaq, to stop the development of the remake. The twitter account itself will also be deleted by the end of the week.

For those who were lucky enough to have owned the Nintendo 64 back in the day, GoldenEye 007 would have been one of the games you’d have the most fond memories of. The game was also remade in 2010 for the Nintendo Wii and DS. And in 2011, the game was remade for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. All the remakes were published by Activision. https://twitter.com/007GoldenEye25/status/1293090610862272512 With this development, it looks like people’s dreams of seeing the GoldenEye game in the Unreal Engine just got dashed. An older alternative still exists, in the form of GoldenEye: Source. As the name suggests, this one is made using Valve’s Source engine. But rather than being a singleplayer remake, this remakes the multiplayer portion instead. (Source: GoldenEye 25 / Twitter. Image: GoldenEye 25 / Twitter)
