According to Eurogamer, Stadia chief Phil Harrison said as much during a roundtable interview with UK games press. He reportedly replied with “I don’t know why it would be cheaper” when asked. He also said that the price of the service is justified, as being able to play games on any screen “is going to be valuable to players.”
Granted, being able to play on practically any platform sounds like a great thing. But it doesn’t change the fact that the price is a little steep. Games are usually priced at US$60 (~RM248) at release, and you’ll have to pay for it on top of Stadia’s subscription fee if you wish to play them in 4K and 60 fps. And of course, there’s the cost for the internet connection itself. While not an issue for many home connections today, you’ll still need at least a 35Mbps connection with practically unlimited data allowances. This makes Stadia impractical for streaming games on the go, one of the key features of Stadia.
Google Stadia’s Pro tier subscription is due this November, while Stadia Base will be out in 2020. Malaysia is currently not in the list of counties that will be getting Stadia, but there’s a chance that Google will bring Stadia here sometime after launch. (Source: Eurogamer)
