According to a report by website LoveNokia, an image allegedly featuring the new rugged phone (shown above) was briefly set as the phone manufacturer’s community forum banner. Thankfully, the publication managed to save a copy of the photo before Nokia removed it from the page and uploaded the same teaser image from before as a replacement. As we’ve previously predicted, the new device featured in the photo looks nothing like the one used in the teaser image – which we believed to be a Nokia X10 or X20 with a hard case. The phone is shown to come in a dark blue rear case with what appears to be a square triple or quad camera setup, as well as a speaker grille, USB-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom. Although it may not appear to feature a tough-looking exterior as most rugged phones (ie: the Samsung Galaxy XCover), the water droplets covering the entire phone hints of a potential IP68 rating or something better. Both GSMArena and LoveNokia believe that this mysterious new handset is the rumoured Nokia XR20. It is said to feature a 6.67-inch Full HD+ display, a Snapdragon 480 chipset, 6GB RAM, 128GB internal storage, Android 11 OS, and either a 5,000mAh or 4,630mAh battery with fast charging support. These specs may not impress everyone, but keep in mind that the details listed are from unofficial sources. Whether the accidentally leaked image or the unofficial information regarding the phone’s specs are accurate or not remains to be seen. As noted by HMD Global in the original teaser, the new rugged Nokia smartphone is slated to launch on 27 July 2021, which is more or less another two weeks from now. (Source: LoveNokia via GSMArena)
