On top of being demoted, this also means Instagram could also remove said posts from its discovery sections and hashtag pages. The statement doesn’t provide a specific list, but suffice to say, it does mean that people on Instagram are going to have to think twice before posting their pictures or video clips on the social media platform. This also means that memes containing insensitive messages could potentially be flagged and taken down. The guideline feels a bit ironic, especially when you consider how celebrities such as Kylie Jenner uses the platform to make a living. Posting up provocative images that essentially skirt around the edges of the supposed guideline. Having said that, it is also important to remember that, unlike Twitter, Instagram has a strong – if not zero tolerance – policy against nudity. In fact, the only time displaying a naked body is permitted is if the body shown is of a nude sculptor, a painting, a post-mastectomy scarring, or a woman who is breastfeeding.
