Paul’s passing came just barely two weeks after he revealed that the cancer which he has overcame in 2009 has returned once again. In the statement, Paul stated that his doctors have begun to treat the cancer and were quite optimistic to see positive results from therapies. As mentioned earlier, Paul Allen made its mark in the industry as the co-founder of Microsoft in which he helped established together with childhood friend Bill Gates in 1975. In fact, it was Paul himself that came out with the company’s name although it was originally spelled as Micro-Soft. Even though Paul left Microsoft back in 1983 due to Hodgkin’s disease, he continued to make his mark through so many ventures across various sectors. Among them including aerospace via SpaceShipOne and Stratolaunch as well as in sports by being the owner of Portland Trail Blazers NBA team and Seattle Seahawks NFL team together with partial ownership of Seattle Sounders FC MLS team. Throughout his lifetime, he has also contributed more than USD 2 billion (about RM 8.3 bullion) into his philanthropic efforts. The news of his passing has resulted in outpouring of reactions from throughout the globe including from the very company that he co-founded alongside other tech giants such as Apple and Google.
