Just like the GTX 1660 Ti, the new GTX 1660 is also equipped with TU116 GPU which is designed to provide a balance between performance, power consumption, and cost. While both cards come with 6GB of VRAM, the GTX 1660 utilizes GDDR5 memory instead of GDDR6 as per GTX 1660 Ti. Here is a general comparison of their specs: By having TU116 GPU as its brain, this means GTX 1660 not able to support ray tracing and DLSS since the GPU doesn’t come with RT and Tensor Core. In terms of performance, NVIDIA stated that the GTX 1660 is 30% and 15% faster than GTX 1060 3GB and GTX 1060 6GB respectively at 1080p resolution. Similar to GTX 1660 Ti, NVIDIA also didn’t produce Founders Edition card for GTX 1660. Fret not though, plenty of NVIDIA add-in board partners have come out with their own take on GTX 1660 including ASUS, Colorful, EVGA, Gainward, GIGABYTE, Inno3d, MSI, Palit, and ZOTAC. Price-wise, the GeForce GTX 1660 also has a lower starting price of USD 219 (about RM 896) as compared to GTX 1660 Ti which starts at USD 279 (~RM 1141). Consumers throughout the world able to check out the card starting from today, 14 March onwards. We were informed that GTX 1660 will be made available through NVIDIA GeForce Official Store on Lazada Malaysia soon as well. We’ll keep you posted once that takes place, so stay tuned.
