As you may recall, the government has decided to shift its PPN strategy from nationwide implementation to state-level around two weeks after the plan was first announced by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin. Prior to Sabah, other states that have been granted the status so far were Perlis, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, and Penang. According to DPM Ismail who still retains his status as Defence Minister, Sabah has managed to achieve the Phase 2 threshold requirement for all three indicators that were stipulated under PPN. Unlike the announcement for Penang earlier this month, the minister didn’t provide further details regarding Sabah’s statistics though but a quick visit to the Facebook page of Dr Christina Rundi, the state’s health director showed that Sabah recorded between 225 to 322 cases from 1 to 7 July. Ahead of DPM’s announcement, the state’s Local Government and Housing Minister, Masidi Majnun has also tweeted that Sabah will likely be able to fully vaccinate 10% of its adult population by tomorrow due to the recent increase in vaccine allocation.
