Speculation of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 becoming the default SoC on the Galaxy S22 globally became a heavy topic of discussion, after the Korean electronics giant failed to announce or launch its new Exynos 2200 flagship chipset during CES 2022 and, at the publication of this article, offered no explanation of its actions, or lack thereof. As per previous reports, the Exynos 2200 was supposed to be the company’s first Exynos chipset with Radeon-based RDNA2 GPU cores, made in part of its collaboration with CPU and GPU tech giant, AMD. It goes without saying that many mobile phone users have long preferred a Snapdragon SoC over Samsung’s own homegrown Exynos chipset, and with valid reason. In the context of the Galaxy S20 series, the Exynos 990 was considerably slower, had worse battery life, and inefficient heat management when compared to Qualcomm’s flagship SoC at the time, the Snapdragon 865.

Meanwhile, Samsung has yet to set a new launch date for its Exynos 2200, although at this stage, it is likely that we could see the chipset receive a grand reveal a little later in the year.
