The new tablet features a smaller 8.7-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1,340 x 800 pixels and a screen-to-body ratio of around 81.1%. Under its hood is an undisclosed octa-core processor with speeds of 4×2.3GHz + 4×1.8GHz, although sites such as GSMArena suggests that it could be a MediaTek Helio P22T. The Tab A7 Lite is revealed to arrive in two memory configurations: 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, or 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. Users can also opt to boost its storage capacity up to 1TB via microSD.

Another significant difference between the Lite and the original Tab A7 model is its battery size, where this variant packs a smaller 5,100mAh battery. Samsung says it also features 15W fast charging support via USB-C but, much like the Galaxy Tab S7 FE, users will need to purchase the corresponding charger separately in order to fully utilise it.  Connectivity-wise, the brand is offering the new tablet in either Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi + LTE options. Much like the original version of the Tab A7, the Lite features a 3.5mm headphone jack as well. For imaging, on its back is a single 8MP main camera, while housed in the left bezel of its display is a 2MP selfie camera.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is slated to be available in Europe sometime in mid-June, and will retail starting from EUR170 (~RM853). While its potential local availability is unknown at this time, the support page for the new tablet is already active on Samsung Malaysia’s website. However, the page is still empty at the time of writing.

Regardless, this may suggest that the brand is gearing up to launch the Lite variant in Malaysia sometime soon. Should that be the case, we’ll definitely keep you updated. (Source: Samsung [Global website] [Malaysian website])
