In terms of hardware and specifications, the A7R IV houses a massive 61MP 35mm, full-frame mirrorless Exmor R sensor. Which is far larger than the sensor of the A7R III, which is rated at 42.2MP. Moving on, the camera sensor also ha standard ISO range between 100 and 32000. It also has a hybrid autofocus (AF) system with 567 PDAF and 425 contrast-detect poin. As with every Sony Alpha camera, the A7R IV uses a 13mm UXGA OLED electronic viewfinder (EVF). Furthermore, the camera’s 7.5cm touchscreen display is the same as the A7R III. The A7R IV’s body has supposedly been redesigned as well. According to camera enthusiast site DPReview, the camera sports an improved weather-resistant measures. Which includes foam gaskets around its battery and card hatch. On that note, the A7R IV houses dual UHS-II card slots and a USB-C port, and even supports 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC wireless connectivity. Regarding performance, the A7R IV features the same built-in 5-axis image stabilisation as the A7R III and can capture up to to 670 shots using the LCD touchscreen or 530 shots via the EVF. It’s also capable of high-speed continuous shooting of up to 10 fps with AF and AE tracking. The camera is also capable of capturing 4K HDR video, albeit at just 30 fps. On the plus side, you still get touch tracking and real-time Eye AF, as well as support for 8-bit S-Log2/3 and HLG. The Sony A7R IV is expected to be available this September with a retail price of US$3500 (~RM14407).
