Sony has officially announced the local pricing for its newest flagship, the Sony Xperia 1 IV. The phone was revealed last month with some impressive camera specs and the price tag to boot, with pre-orders now open to Malaysians. The flagship is priced at RM6099, which sounds like a tough pill to swallow until you realise that that is over RM900 cheaper than the price tag in the US, which is sold for US$1599.99 (~RM7043). The pre-order is available from 10 June until 10 July and early birds will get a free pair of Sony’s WF-1000XM4 wireless earbuds while stocks last, which is worth RM1099. To recap, the Xperia 1 IV is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, paired with 12GB RAM and 256GB of expandable storage. It ships with Android 12 out of the box and is powered by a 5000 mAh battery that supports 30W fast wired charging. It also supports both wireless and reverse wireless charging but Sony did not specify the charging speeds. As for the display, it sports a 6.5-inch 4K+ (3840×1644) 120Hz OLED display with a 21:9 aspect ratio and 240Hz touch scanning rate. The touchscreen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and the whole phone itself is IP65 and IP68 water and dust resistant, meaning that it can survive underwater for up to 30 minutes. What is special about the phone is that it packs what Sony boasts to be a true 85-125mm optical telephoto zoom lens, as well as a 24mm wide lens and a 16mm ultra-wide lens. All three sensors are capable of recording 4K HDR videos at 120fps coupled with Videography Pro software and you can even use the Xperia 1 IV as a secondary display for Sony Alpha cameras. You can pre-order the phone now on Sony’s website in either Black or Purple. Although Sony does not mention when it will actually start shipping out the phone, we can assume it will be sometime in July after pre-orders are closed. You can also look forward to the midrange Sony Xperia 10 IV, which will be coming to Malaysia in August. (Source: Sony Malaysia/Facebook)
