But what about the Spider-Manless Spider-verse that Sony is currently building? It was weird seeing a Venom movie without even a mention of Spider-Man. After all, in the comics Venom’s origin is intrinsically tied to the web-slinger. The financial success of Venom meant that we will be getting a sequel and the universe will continue to expand. But the idea always seemed confusing. What good is a universe built around the Spider-Man Rogues Gallery if Spider-Man himself is absent from it? Well, as it turns out, there are plans in the works for Spidey and Venom to collide down the line. In an interview with Fandom, Venom helmer Ruben Fleischer had this to say: While it’s still unclear how exactly the universes are going to collide, the idea is still mighty exciting. However, do note that Fleischer’s words aren’t confirmation of any sort, especially since he isn’t directing Venom 2 — Andy Serkis has taken over the captain’s chair. Also, with Sony’s renewed deal with the Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige once again serving as the creative head of at least one more solo Spidey movie, it’s unlikely that a crossover happens anytime soon.
