The video was first posted on Weibo by a vlogger who goes by the Google-translated name “Classmate Li Dahui” and is relatively self-explanatory. In it, Dahui can be seen showing off the under-camera technology being deployed on what is obviously the Mi 10 Ultra smartphone. To lend further credence to it, Dahui also brought in another MI 10 Ultra, but one using the punch hole selfie camera instead. https://twitter.com/bartolomewkuma/status/1302169086185680899?s=21 As exciting as this may be for some, Dahui was also quick to point out that the version seen in the video was still a prototype and as such, there are some kinks and rough edges that need to be ironed out. These are currently being handled by Xiaomi’s technical team and should be resolved before mass production.
There are also rumours that Xiaomi smartphones sporting under-display cameras could be made available as early as October or November this year, instead of the brand’s 2021 forecast. However, these rumours have yet to be officially confirmed or vetted. So, take it with a grain of salt. (Source: Li Dahui via Weibo, Sahil Karoul via Twitter)
